All on Our Own
Beginning this journey, we hoped to be able to quickly get the farm ready. However, just starting out means lack of finances; but not a lack of blood, sweat, and tears. We quickly discovered that our bodies are capable of doing anything a tractor implement can do, it just take A LOT of sore muscles and MUCH more time.
We have laid the landscape fabric by hand, every 750 feet so far. We have much more to lay, but after putting the final touches on each row, there is a love for each row, each plant.
We first planted out 102 plants that we left for us. These are Elegance Purple and while they are a smaller variety, they have the promise of powerful culinary charm.
On the 25th, we added our ‘babies’ to the farm. Each of these are Phenomenal and are expected to be 30”-32” tall and have a large oil yield.
